Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government on Tuesday night decided to cancel Yatra’s Kanwar.
It ended in speculation that the Pushkar Dhami-LED government could reverse the decision taken by the Administration of Tirath Rawat before to cancel Yatra.
“At the time of the threat of Covid-19 still towering and the case of the Delta-Plus variant has also been reported from Uttarakhand, we cannot let Haridwar become a nest of pandemic,” said Dhami.
“The lives of important people and we cannot play with them.
It is important to save lives during a pandemic.
Even God will not like it if there is a lost life.” This is the second year in a row that Kanwar Yatra has been canceled.
Last year, the Trivendra government had decided not to hold Yatra given the Covid-19 situation.
Only a few days after Dhami took over as cm, there was speculation that Uttarakhand allowed Yatra.
This was driven by CM Yogi Adityanath calling Dhami and asked Kanwarias from the top to be permitted in a limited amount to come to Haridwar.
The call initially triggered the state government to reconsider his decision.
The day after talking to Yogi, Dhami told senior officials to coordinate with neighboring countries such as Delhi, above and Haryana from where most Kanwarias troops became Uttarakhand.
During the next visit to Delhi, he consulted with PM Narendra Modi and Interior Minister Amit Shah on this problem even when experts returned to the house warned that holding Yatra could have disaster consequences.
They pointed to Kumbh Mela in Haridwar earlier this year and said Covid norms were violated with impunity.
Toi has reported how even the tests carried out were damaged by fraud charges, close to the Lakh Covid trials that turned false or repaired.
The government’s decision was welcomed by many people.
Social activists based in Dehradun Anoop Nutiyal said, “The Uttarakhand government has made a wise decision and takes a clear attitude.
All energy must now be focused on strengthening our infrastructure / human resources to minimize the impact of the third wave of pandemics that will soon occur.” Awasi Uttarakhand calls Kanwar Yatra’s call
