New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday said that it could not play with the lives of people by directing the center to race people with a covishield which was fully vaccinated with Covaxin to enable them to travel abroad during the Pandemic Covid-19.
The APEX court heard the petition which said that Covaxin was not approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and people here face difficulties in getting permission to travel abroad.
Judge Dy Chandrachud and BV Nagarathna said that the court did not have data about what would happen to people and it could not simply direct the center to vaccinate people with covishield.
“We cannot play with the lives of people by directing the center to break.
We do not have data with us.
We have read in newspapers that Bharat Biotech has submitted an application with the World Health Organization for recognition.
Let’s wait for the WHO response.

Advocates Kartik Seth, appearing directly, argues that every day several students and people are willing to go abroad but they are rejected in because Covaxin is not recognized by WHO.
He said that under the current mechanism someone who was vaccinated with Covaxin could not register himself on the Cowin portal to get a covishield vaccine and direction that can be released to the center in this matter.
“We cannot cross the direction to manage other vaccines without any data.
We understand your worries but let’s wait for the response who,” Bench said.
The top yesterday said that there was also worries that competitors could be in Garb from pills trying to take advantage of litigation.
Seth said that the pill was purely litigation of public interest as some students who went abroad to learn rejected entries in various countries.
The request submitted by Seth said that when rolling from Covaxin, the government did not make the public aware that it was not approved by WHO.
It was said that Bharat Biotech had submitted his application for approval at the end of April 2021 and in May knowing many countries did not allow their entry of being vaccinated with vaccines other than those listed in the list of emergency use.
The request prayed for a direction to the department concerned and the release of official data and the reason for delays to get approval to the Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech.
It also looks for directions to disclose data and actual records to whom will get approval that supports covaxin.
