Gurgaon: The current notification issued from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on suspending price series and enabling vehicles to maneuver whether the queue is more than 100m long hasn’t gone down well with this Kherki Daula cost administration.
Toll concessionaire Millennium City Expressway Private Limited (MCEPL) has resisted multiple operational challenges in executing this principle, particularly as the Kherki Daula toll plaza is notorious for regular brawls involving commuters and also the cost personnel over payment of their fee.
MCEPL farther said they’re yet to get the notification from NHAI and as soon as they receive it, they will take up the issue with all the highways authority.
“We’re yet to get any notice in NHAI.
However from what we’ve to understand from media accounts, this movement is simply not possible.
Each toll plaza differs and has unique issues and these sweeping rules cannot be executed without corrective consultation with all the stakeholders.
Rather than solving the issue, it is going to create others, and might normalise the skirmishes in the Kherki Daula toll plaza,” a mature MCEPL officer stated.
In its telling, NHAI had declared that in case the string of vehicles is greater than 100m, the toll plazas might need to suspend toll collection and provide a free pass on the vehicles before the queue comes in 100m in the toll booths.
The statement, but has become compliance challenges.
“For example, individuals will intentionally create ruckus in the toll plaza simply to abuse this new origin.
Therefore, we understand how neighborhood goons threaten our employees on a daily basis and lead to unnecessary messes.
This might turn into a regular.
Who will mend liability in these circumstances? Will there be some provision to minimise these cases with additional police security,” queried this officer.
“Aside from the chance of being abused, the proposition also fails to deliver any strain on who can endure the loss.
If we create the toll free for five minutes two times daily, our losses will probably be up to Rs 1 lakh on a daily basis.
NHAI must be quite clear on who’ll share the load of those losses since we were not consulted prior to this sweeping statements were created,” the official added.
The project implementation component of NHAI, however, is to issue the note to the concessionaire, and it has maintained that the instructions have been analyzed by their own staff to examine the feasibility and compliance difficulties.
“There are several financial and compliance problems related to this.
We’re yet to finalise anything about those guidelines.
We’ve sent for test and also to look at their feasibility.
After we receive the report by the group assessing it, just then we could provide a comprehensive comment about it,” stated an NHAI official.
