New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki, a small car leader and the largest passenger vehicle seller in India, has fired the suggestion that small cars are on the way out, and confirm that affordable hatchback is here to stay and will grow strong even though the SUV catches more than 50% market.
Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO Maruti Suzuki, said small cars would watch a strong comeback when he underestimated worries that Minis would see a sharp reduction in the days of SUV domination.
He blamed the lack of supply of components, such as semiconductors, for a decrease in sales and small car share, adding that a hatchback would regain a lost market.
“We keep that small it’s big in India, and this will be a trend when we progress,” Ayukawa told Ti when the company drove in an enhanced Celerio Hatchback version with the price of RS 5 Lakh (former showroom) entry.
