Capital Hospital to recognize PG students from next year

Written by news2in

Bhubaneswar: A decade after the first idea was debated in 2012, the capital hospital was set to start the receipt of PG from next year.
The state government has decided to receive acceptance in 15 departments from the Institute of Education and Postgraduate Research (PGimer) proposed with a total intake capacity of 53 students for the academic year 2022-2023.
Five PG students each will receive acceptance in medicine, operations, midwifery and gynecology, and pediatrics while three students will receive entrance tickets in 11 other disciplines, notifications released by the Ministry of Health on Thursday.
Although the National Medical Commission (NMC) has not approved the plan, the state health authority believes they will get their readiness to be guided by the Ministry of Health and family welfare.
“I don’t think the NMC permission will be a problem given that we have made the necessary preparations after advice from the Ministry of Health and the welfare of the union,” said Secretary (Health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra.
Because the capital city of the hospital does not have a teaching faculty, the government has signed the MoU with SCB Medical College and hospitals for its faculty to teach pirimer students until the government recruits separate faculty members.
The MoU was signed in June according to the advice of the Union Ministry of Health.
Student intake has been done based on existing hospital facilities and the availability of the Faculty of SCB, said the government’s source.
