Guwahati: The Union Minister for the port, shipping and sarbanou sonowal waterways on Sunday declared the hope that the cargo ship would start sailing in Brahmaputra to the next part of 2022.
Dredging work at the river’s critical intersection was started by the ministry, he said.
The statement issued by his office stated that the Government of Bangladesh, with the support of the Government of India, also worked on the Jamuna River to make 2,000 km-long water channels from Sadiya in Tinsukia Regency in West Assam in Bengala Barat Bangladesh, a smooth part.

The Uni Cabinet Minister added that the government worked tirelessly to connect Mizoram, Tripura and Assam to a strategic port in Myanmar (Sittwe Port) and Bangladesh (Port Mongla and Chittagong).
In an effort to integrate expertise from the northeast to make dredging sustainable and economic propositions, Sonowal indicates that support from experts at Tezpur University, Iim Guwahati and Iim Shillong – higher higher education institutions in the northeast – will be very important.
Three institutions will provide technical input to utilize dredging optimally.
“The potential of Brahmaputra and other Northeast North Rivers and people will benefit directly from the development of river tourism, cargo transportation, and alternative economic transportation,” he said, adding that the Jal project Marg Vikas government worked to ensure optimal regional development and holistic by rejuvenating rivers as a decent and sustainable economic proposition.
