Hubballi: Head of Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday hinting to reduce CESS and sales tax on gasoline and diesel in the state to alleviate fuel prices, which have touched the highest of all time.
Speaking to journalists Bommai said, it all depends on the economy.
“I have called a meeting of economic reviews.
If the economic situation seems good, there are all the possibilities to be considered,” he said.
Bommai previously immediately refused tax deductions on fuel in the state.
Gasoline prices have reached Rs 109.16 per liter and the price of Diesel has touched Rs 100 in Karnataka.
The opposition congress has demanded a tax reduction on fuel on Tamil Nadu government lines, which has reduced taxes on gasoline by Rs 3 per liter.
Congress has blamed the BJP government in power to increase fuel prices.
Bommai has defended that under the price of government fuel UPA jumps 60 percent between 2004 and 2014 and fuel prices have increased 30 percent in seven years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
