Mumbai: Sunil Patil, the former former Head of the Mumbai Wing BJP Mohit Bharatiya has been accused of being the mastermind from the episode of the shipping drug, appearing in front of the Mumbai Police Special Investigation Team on Sunday night to record a statement, an official said.
Patil reached the Azad Maidan police station in a private taxi and then went to the sitting office located in South Mumbai, he said.
According to the official, Patil entered the office sitting around 6:15 a.m.
ACP Milind Khetle, who heads sitting, will record Patil’s statement.
Sitting was formed by Mumbai police to investigate the allegations of extortion against the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) official in connection with the alleged drug bust on a cruise last month where the Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son was the defendant.
Sitting has recorded a statement of independent witness NCB Prabhakar Sail, the official added.
Sail has claimed that he had heard witness NCB K P Gosavi who discussed the charge agreement of Rs 25 Crore after Aryan Khan was arrested by NCB in connection with this case.
Gosavi was later arrested by Pune police in a cheating case.
On Saturday, Bharatiya claimed that Patil, who came from Dhule in North Maharashtra, was the mastermind from all episodes of drug cruise.
Bharatiya also accused Patil associated with many leaders of the ruling nationalist Congress Party (NCP), including former Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh.
On Sunday, Patil denied the allegations that he was “Mastermind”.
Talking with the news channel, Patil claimed a tip-off of the Cruise Party given to Manish Bhanushali, a NCB witness in this case, by Neeraj Yadav based in Bhopal, whom he claims is BJP workers.
