Chennai: Madras High Court has canceled a criminal defamination complaint submitted against DMK MP Kanimozhi in 2018 by the AIDMK government later.
Justice M Nirmal Kumar canceled the process, initiated in the name of the former Head of Education Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday.
When the request came to hear, the senior advocate of P Wilson, representing Kumurimozhi, told the court that after changes in the government, the Head of the New Minister M K Stalin ordered the withdrawal of all defamation cases initiated by politicians by the politician government at the time.
Record submission, the court canceled the process that began against Kanimozhi.
The defamation case was proposed against Kanimozhi at the Villupuram court for his statement leveling allegations of corruption against Palaniswami in waste disposal.
Alleged that the statement made by Kanimozhi had damaged his reputation, Palaniswami moved complaints of criminal defamation.
Challenging the same thing, Kanimozhi moved the High Court.
He argues that Palaniswami cannot seek protection from defamation if corruption occurs.
“The state cannot maintain a corrupt head minister through its resources, the time and engine.
The public prosecutor becomes a state office abuse and misused to submit cases against the opposition,” he added.
It was separate, the court also canceled the same complaints of defamation the same submitted against MP DMK MP Poweridhi Maran and the leader of the EVK Elangovan Congress.
