Bhopal: Five years after being labeled as the first Digital Village of Madhya Pradesh, Badjhiri, on the outskirts of Bhopal, not digital.
Adopted by the Bank of Baroda (Bob), immediately after demonetization, transactions without cash out and villagers only deal with cash.
Bob officials also did not know about this result because they claimed yet to let the stone missed in promotion and awareness to make the village really digital and leave without cash.
So much, that the bank provides sales engine points to all traders and shop owners in the village.
All now collect dust and almost not used.
When contacted to learn about the status of Digital Village, Head (Bob Bhopal Zone), Girish C Dalakoti said that he did not have much information about it.
“I’ve been outdated and in the middle of the forest.
You can talk to Tejendra Shrivastava manager.
He will be able to explain better about it,” said Dalakoti.
When contacted, Shrivastava admitted that people were not enthusiastic about digital transactions.
“We have done several events and camps to educate villagers about its importance and need digital payments.
Even during those camps, villagers made several guarantees to us to choose digital transactions, but then they prefer cash without cash,” Shrivastava said.
The Minister of Finance of the State of Jayant Malaiya has been in 2016, states Badjhiri Digital Village.
Bank Baroda has installed an express lobby along with ATMs, passbook printers, and cash deposit machines in the village to promote purchases without cash.
When Tii asked the shopkeeper about digital payments, he replied, “Use plastic in Bhopal.
Here, only the cash payment option is available.” The same thing is fate with a post machine.
“I don’t know where I save the machine.
The shopkeeper has stopped using it.” The shopkeeper said that most of the business in the village was on credit.
“Loan is rampant here because it is a village area.
Using a post is not possible in such a situation.
With such a situation, the village tag without cash or digital does not make sense.
