San Francisco: The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases increased faster in San Francisco only in the past week, compared to the Bay Area and the entire state of California, according to new data.
This is a rare event for the city, which has had the lowest virus level in the main US metropolitan area throughout the pandemic, the Xinhua news agency quoted Chronic San Francisco who said in a report on Friday.
According to the California data coalition, the total number of new cases recorded during the last seven days in San Francisco rose 81.6% from the previous seven days.
New cases in California for the past seven days rose 71% from the previous period, and opposite the bay area, the amount was 61%.
At present, the average new level of San Francisco case is 13 per 100,000 people, while the average level of the seven days of California is 13.7 and the Bay area is 12.5.
San Francisco also witnessed a higher level of “breakthrough” case among people who were vaccinated than California.
In San Francisco, there were 5.8 cases per 100,000 vaccinated residents and 15 cases per 100,000 people were not vaccinated, according to district officials.
This price is both higher than the country, which reported 2 cases per 100,000 vaccinated residents and 13 for those who were not vaccinated.
The San Francisco Public Health Department said in a statement that the city had tested more people than many other places in California, which could be a factor in the higher level of case.
“As a city, we prioritize testing in our hit areas to detect disease.
As the second most populous city in this country, we know the very transmitting virus will spread faster in the community,” said the statement on Friday.
More than a month after the country and the city reopened, the Delta variant spread quickly, experts said.
In San Francisco, 69% of the population was fully vaccinated, while in California, the number was 52.3%, according to the center for disease control and prevention data.
