Caste forced the Gujarat teacher to rise 150km to school

Ahmedabad: A 50-year-old government teacher in the District of Surendranagar Gujarat was forced to travel 150 km every day to school and return home.
This is because it is included in the Valmiki community, classified as the scheduled caste (SC), and the village Panchayat where he posted as a teacher, has officially stated he could not get a house locally because there was no Valmiki housing completion in the village.
Blatant discrimination has led to state social justice and the empowerment department to write a letter to the Ministry of Education last week, acknowledging that “teachers from the caste scheduled have become victims of torture, discrimination, inequality and slash”.
The Social Justice Department has requested the Ministry of Education to move it as soon as possible.
A copy of the letter is available with this newspaper.
Kanhaiyalal belaiya (50), who lives in Chhatriyala Chuda Taluka Village in the Surendranagar district, was transferred to school in Ninama Village in the same district, which is 75 km away.
“When I left and reported to be on duty, I began to ask to rent a house.
I asked where my community was.
When I answered said that I was from the Valmiki community, I was told that there was no Valmiki settlement in the village and therefore I could not get a rental house In the village! In fact, Talati and Sarpanch – the head of the administrative and selected village – gave this in writing in the official newspaper Panchayat Village on December 16, 2020 to Relaylaya.
“I have made an official complaint for all departments concerned – social justice, education and department Others – about this.
Finally, the Department of Social Justice last week wrote to the Ministry of Education to move me, “said Belaiya to Ti.
Belaiya claimed that he also explained the situation to CM Bhupendra Patel and asked for a transfer.” Cm told me that he would see this problem, “said Relaya.
When contacted, the District collector Surendranagar Amrutesh Aurangabadkar said that he was currently leaving and would investigate this problem.
Activist Dalit said discrimination on the basis of caste and it was unfortunate that even the teacher was not spared.
“I have written a letter to PM, asking him, asking him To declare a village in the country it was free of discrimination on January 26, 2022.
Such cases occur everywhere and every day in Gujarat, “said Kantilal Parmar, activists in Dalit Rights.
