Casual workers demand guaranteed work, warn stir

Noida: Hundreds of casual workers held protests outside the Sector 6 Office of Noida authorities on Thursday, demanding their service regularization.
Casual workers who have worked for more than three decades, urged authority to at least save it as Samvida Karmi (contractual employees) instead of employing their services through suppliers and labor contractors.
Apart from the 1,000-plus workforce itself, the authority depends on support of more than 4,500 casual workers to provide urban services to the population.
These workers function as the backbone of authority and also respond to residents’ complaints.
However, senior authority officials managed to calm the delegation of workers, who threatened to break up, during meetings at night.
Additional CEO Praveen Mishra is a person who mediated a ceasefire between the two parties.
Secretary General of the Casual Workers who represented workers, Vinod Kumar Sharma said, “The Chairperson of the Noida Authority will visit the city on September 11.
We will meet him and present our demands before that.
Until then, no protest or strike will occur.” In fact , these workers have demanded absorption in the service as Karmis Samvida like other government departments.
“That way, we will be paid by the authority directly.
And if the permanent position floated in the future, Karmida Samvida was given a preference,” he added.
In separate development, a group of farmers who separated from their land when the city developed, held a meeting at Sarfabad on Thursday afternoon.
These farmers have threatened to launch protests against the authorities of September 1 for their delayed demands such as more compensation and eternal problems.
