Nagapattinam: a 25-year-old man who tried to steal a house tied to a tree and elephant in Nagappattinam at Wee Tuesday.
The police have arrested four people including homeowners in this relationship.
The police identified the victim as Srinivasan, a resident of Vedaranyam, who tried to escape from the house of a fisherman after stealing cash and jewelry when he was caught.
The Fisherman, Kalidass, 32, a resident of Tata Nagar, the Tsunami residential area in Akkaripettai, has started from his house at around 1:30 a.m.
on Tuesday to the beach to explore the sea.
His wife K Malakodi, 24, alone in their home.
Around 2.15 in the morning, Srinivasan entered the house of Kalidass when Malakodi left the door half open.
He stole Rs 40,000 in cash and two sovereign gold chains from the bureau.
When he heard a voice, Malarkodi got up and saw what happened.
He began to shout for help, but Srinivasan threatened him in the knifepoint and tried to escape with stolen items.
However, once the defendant came out of the house, Malakodi raised an alarm.
His neighbors rushed in and managed to catch Srinivasan and tied him to the tree.
Meanwhile, Kalidass heard again about theft efforts.
Immediately, the inhabitants of fishing hamlets began attacking Srinivasan who then fell unconscious.
They rushed to Nagapattinam hospital at around 8:30 a.m.
where the doctor said he was taken dead, police said.
“In the information, we rushed to the place and conducted an inquiry.
We caught Kalidass and three others, Kaimani, Senthil and Pradeep,” said the Periyasamy Police Inspector.
They were ordered under Section 302 (a) and 304 (1) IPC.
The four have been turned on in prison after being produced before the district court.
