NEW DELHI: The Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) on Friday said that it had submitted forgery in connection with the death of a prisoner, which was allegedly destroyed to death by rival prisoners in Tihar Jailin this year.
FIR was archived after the Delhi High Court issued an order on the application submitted by the mother from the deceased last week.
Previously, police from the Nagar Day police station had conducted an investigation into the incident and had “rearranged” four accused in this case, who had undergone Judicial custody in Tihar Jail.
“The CBI has taken over the case and the investigation is underway,” said RC Joshi, CBI spokesman.
Undertrial detainees, Srikant Swami, who nested in prison number 4 were arrested on charges of Dacoity, robbery and murder experiments.
On May 14, a fight was reported inside the cell, after Swami was attacked by other inmates.
The prison guards then intervened, and Swami was taken to the hospital, but was declared dead at Safdarjung Hospital.
Mrs.
Swami submitted a request before the High Court, asked for an investigation into the death of her son.
It came in the note during the question that most CCTV in the prison spot did not work, therefore, the alleged attack was not caught on camera.
The deceased family has accused the involvement of prison officials into the murder, which will be investigated by the CBI.
Next week, the CBI is expected to record a statement of prison supervisors and guards on duty on the day of the incident.
