Mumbai: Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) on Monday arrested the engineer of the central train and officers who worked in the Bhusawal division for alleged bribery in giving two tenders, officials said here.
Following complaints, the CBI filed a case against ML Gupta engineers and officers Sanjeev Rade and arrested them after putting a trap.
They will be produced before the CBI court specifically on Tuesday.
Providing details, CBI officials said that according to the complainant, the duo had demanded a bribe of Rs 4.5 Lakh to issue a receipt for two tenders.
The complainants were selected in July 2021 in the tender process for large improvements to work to the quarters of the Bhusawal CR zone staff worth around Rs 1.34 Crore, and the contract for an increase in train coach maintenance center, worth RS 1.13 Crore other.
Following complaints, the CBI put the trap and captured the duo with a red hand while accepting the RS 200,000 (Gupta) section and Rs 40,000 (Rade).
Sleuth CBI then also raided the office and housing place from two accused and recovered again at Rs 15 Lakh from Gupta.
Further investigation is underway.
