Mumbai: The CBI has summoned the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra Sitaram Kunte and the DGP State of Sanjay Pandey in connection with violations that have been registered with the NCP leader and former Minister of Home Awah Anil Deshmukh and a sustainable probe into this issue.
According to reports, Kunte and Pandey might not go to the CBI office because they felt their statements must be recorded in their respective offices.
This is the first time in memory recently that the Secretary of the Head of State and DGP has been called by a probe agent.
The CBI case based on the Letterthough former Kunte City Police Commissioner did not respond to TOI messages, a member of the senior cabinet confirmed to this paper that Kunte and Sanjay Pandey had been summoned by the CBI to secure more information about criminal cases proposed against Deshmukh.
According to a report, the CBI has recorded Kunte’s statement a few months ago.
After a letter written by former Police Commissioner Mumbai Param Singh to Cm Uddhav Thackeray on March 20 this year, the CBI on April 24 registered a criminal case against Deshmukh under the prevention of corruption laws.
This case was registered following the direction of the Bombay High Court.
