Gurgaon: Municipal Corporation of Commissioner Gurgaon (MCG) Mukesh Kumar Ahuja has directed the Wing sanitation to install CCTV cameras in 20 locations in an effort to examine illegal waste disposal throughout the city.
Sites will be monitored regularly and strict action will be taken against violators, MCG officials said.
The instructions came in a meeting held by Ahuja on Friday to take stock management of solid waste in the city.
MCG has set 34 secondary waste collection points, where garbage from the housing and condominium community is collected and then managed by the waste management concession holder, a official said from the corporation.
“Of these 34 points, the MCG has ordered the closure of 20 points because this must be increased by concession holders for better uses.
There are limitations about disposing of garbage at these points,” he said.
Despite the prohibition, some people have already disposed of waste on these points illegally, he added.
“Bait from CCTV cameras will be monitored 24 × 7 by a special team to identify violators and strict actions will be taken against them,” another official said.
In the meeting, Ahuja also directed officials to clean the waste sites and installed planters and concrete chairs to prevent people from disposing of garbage.
The head of the MCG also told them to build a boundary wall around 14 sites left and took strict action against violators, the official said.
It was also decided at the meeting that to manage horticultural waste, four composting plants would be installed by civil body horticultural wings.
In the meeting, representatives of the ecogreen waste management company said the material recovery facility with a capacity of 150 tons would operate in Badshapur within two months.
