NEW DELHI: Head of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat has witnessed multi-nation-terrorist training in the Russian Orenburg area which has been held under the Aegis of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO).
India has sent a team of 200 personnel to “peaceful mission training” throughout the week which began on September 13.
General was held on a two-day visit to Russia and he attended the Head of the General Staff of SCO member staff in Orenburg.
“General Bipin took care of #CD witnessed the final validation exercises of multi-nation training # Damaiffulmission2021 from #SCO countries in Orenburg,” said the army in a tweet.
This exercise provides an opportunity for the armed forces of the SCO nations to practice in counter-terrorism operations in urban scenarios in multinational and joint environments, officials said.
The scope of the exercise includes professional interactions, mutual understanding of exercise and procedures, the formation of command and joint control structures and the elimination of terrorist threats, he added.
SCO is an economic block and influential security and has emerged as one of the largest transregional international organizations.
India and Pakistan became a permanent member in 2017.
SCO was founded at a summit in Shanghai in 2001 by the President of Russia, China, Kyrgyzistan Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
India has shown sharp interest in deepening its security related cooperation with the SCO and its regional anti-terrorism (mouse), which specifically deals with problems related to security and defense.
India was made by an observer at SCO in 2005 and generally participated in the Minister of Grouping Meeting, which focused primarily on security and economic cooperation in the Eurasian region.
