New Delhi: There is a “little or not” infiltration in the control line (LOC) after India and Pakistan agreed to observe the fresh border ceasefire in February, which has led to a significant decline in violence in J & K, General MM Naravane said Thursday.
“But there will always be some initial elements that will try to sabotate peace and development.
We must serve it,” said the head of the army at a virtual seminar.
The statement came in the background of the lack of clarity whether the drone used in the Jammu Terror attack was recently flown from all international borders or from around the air force station itself by Terror clothing supported by Pakistan such as Mari or Jem.
Naravane Gen said the security situation at J & K had seen “marked improvement” since DGMOS India and Pakistan approved a ceasefire.
“Because there is a ceasefire, there is no more infiltration.
So, the number of terrorists in the valley is lacking and the number of incidents related to terror has fallen.
But we continue to have a very strong grid counter-infiltration and counter-terrorism,” he said.
Certain violence incidents such as shooting on picket security forces were made.
“But overall, a sharp decline in all violent parameters clearly shows that the general population in Kashmir is all for peace and development,” he said.
