Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Friday filed FIR against Yashwant Shende, a resident of NAV Nirman Society in Pratap Nagar, to cut a full mango tree without mandatory permission from the department of his garden.
Taking serious recognition of the logging of illegal trees, Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari on Tuesday issued orders to the supervisor of the NMC Amol Chaurpagar Park Department to file a shot into the trees without the required civic body permission.
During the meeting, the mayor was told a large number of illegal loggers roaming the Nagpur, which cut down trees at a low cost and took wood with them.
Actions need to be taken against such gangs that can be seen roaming throughout the city with axes and ropes, the mayor is told.
Tiwari directed the garden department to file an illegal tree cutter that roamed opposite the city.
On Thursday, the garden department received a tip-off of illegal tree logging at NAV Nirman Society.
Ananta Nagmote Park Inspector visited the place and found that adult mango trees were planted cut from their labels.
Then, on behalf of Chaurpagar, Nagmote approached Pratap Nagar Police and submitted a quarter against Yashwant Shende under Part 21 of the protection of trees and preservation of urban areas of Maharashtra (urban areas), 1975.
