Nagpur: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said it is time for the cement and steel industry to start using green hydrogen as energy than coal for production.
He spoke in the inauguration of various facilities Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL) based in Nagpur.
“Now it’s time to use green hydrogen as energy in the cement and steel industry instead of coal.
We must work on the addition of values by running the metal industry, where mining products use green hydrogen as energy.
We must protect the environment.
We must protect the environment and Increase our production at the same time, “he said.
Gadkari, who is a member of the Cabinet Committee on Divestment, emphasizes carrying out a large-scale divestment as expected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said it was not a government job to run a business.
“Large financial discipline occurs through divestment.
They (PSU) who are in profit and do well must perform better and emphasize the important performance audit which is said to be more important than the financial audit,” he said.
Gadkari appreciated the moil for the announcement was made for his employees in terms of revising wages and other demands.
He requested moil to increase his annual production and and reduce ore imports and make India ‘Atmanirbhar’ (Mandiri).
Mukund Chaudhary, Cmd Moil, said that the moil consistently benefited and paying handsome dividends to the main shareholders of shareholders into the Indian government.
Chaudhary informed the plan to increase production capacity said it targeted 2.5 million tons 2025-26 and 3 million tons in 2030.
Speaking of expansion plans, Chaudhary said that Moil had signed the MoU for the production of manganese ore in Gujarat, where exploration had begun and 9.5 million tons of ore have been approved.
Likewise, MOIL will sign MOO with the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha for manganese ore production.
