Thiruvananthapuram: In a clear step to explore unconventional options to stretch the power crisis that still exist in the country, the UNI Ministry of Road has asked the state government to pump into the national electricity network, Hydel Power Kerala can produce during the day, Until October 31.
Union Secretary Alok Kumar in his letter to the Head of Secretary of the VP, has requested support for urging the country because of the crisis of power because of coal deficiency “tends to take the time to stabilize”.
“It’s scope to increase the support of power plants from storage-based stations in your country (IDUKKI 780 MW), especially during rush hour, which is 8am to 6pm,” the letter said.
KSEB authorities say the board has no reason to reject the suggestion, especially because the country receives heavy rains in the catchment area of the main hydel station, including idukki, and there is a water level that can be disposed of for additional power plants during the day.
As the level of storage in the dam, including IDUKKI, has crossed 86% of their storage capacity, the Board has boosted power plants from Hydel Station.
According to sources, the ministry of central power has not held a discussion with KSEB about how to supply this one-of-thekind power transaction.
KSEB has provided hydel power during rush hour to agents put into a power banking agreement.
Because of the decline at the level of power consumption during the rain, the board even sells hydel power on the power exchange during the peak off.
However, the abundance of water in the dam will not help KSEB to counteract the lack of power during peak hours, which is, starting at 18:00 to 10:00.
As on October 15, the Board has no power shortage during peak hours.
The availability of power for today is 3,426 MW against the expected request of 3,400 MW.
However, the energy mixture in such a way that the in-house generation in October 14 was 36 Manchester United to the 69 MU slow demand for that day.
In the event that there are sharp cuts in the power of the main producing station or from other generators with whom KSEB has been bound to power during rush hour, Kerala can still face severe power shortages at curfew.
The source said KSEB is likely to demand the Ministry of Strength to exchange Hydel strength given during peak off with the power of the center-producing station during rush hour or pay a reasonable price per unit.
The Board recently bought power at a high level of Rs 20 from power exchanges during the power crisis caused by coal deficiency.
