Dimapur: The center has decided to form a committee to see the withdrawal of armed forces (AFSPA) in Nagaland, a joint statement issued by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the representative of the People’s Legislative in the People’s Dragon and his dragon leader TR Zeliang Party said on Sunday.
The decision was taken at a meeting, chaired by the minister of the house of Union Amit Shah in New Delhi on December 23 to discuss the current scenario in Nagaland after the murder of 13 civilians in the village of Oting on December 4 and other people in the city of December 5 in shooting by security forces, The statement said.
Apart from the three, the meeting was attended by Minister of Assam Minister Himanta Buswa Sarma, who was also the organizer of the Northeast Democratic Alliance (Neda).

Withdrawal of disturbed areas and AFSPA from Nagaland will be based on the committee’s recommendation, a joint statement said.
The Committee will be chaired by the additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the Northeast and will cover the Secretary of the Head of Nagaland and Director General of Police.
Other members who will be included in the Committee are Inspector General Rifles Assam (North) and CRPF representatives.
The meeting decided that the investigation court would begin the disciplinary process of the Army unit and army personnel, which was directly involved in the incident and the actions of Otin would be immediately taken for a fair investigation.
People identified who will face investigations will be placed under suspensions with direct effects, the statement said.

It was also decided at the meeting that the Nagaland government would provide government work to the next victim’s relatives.
