Center sitting at rs 25 lakh cr tax fuel; Inflation, the increase in oil prices will dominate the session: Kharge

Mumbai: It states that the inflation issue and the increase in fuel prices will dominate the parliamentary session from July 19, the leader of the Senior Congress Malikarjun Kharge on Monday accused the center of collecting Rs 25 lakh crore through fuel tax but did not use this fund.
Welfare of people or giving it to the state government.
Overcoming a press conference here, opposition leader at Rajya Sabha said the Narendra Modi government had made the lives of ordinary people “miserable” in the past seven years.
“The price of fuel, LPG, vegetable oil is at the highest point of all time.
This center has collected Rs 25 Lakh Crore as a tax on fuel but is not used for people’s welfare or given to the state government, “Kharge accused.
He said the MOD government has raised fuel prices “326 times including 38 times in the last two months”.
“The central tax on fuel as long as the UPA rules is Rs 9.48 (per liter) which is now Rs 32.90 (per liter).
During the working period of the UPA, the rates of crude oil were Rs 111 per barrel and the gasoline price of Rs.
71 (per liters).
Contrary to this, when the crude oil level of 44 USD per barrel of gasoline prices is Rs 107 per liter now, “he said.
He said while the Government Government had “collected Rs 25 Lakh Crore in fuel tax” and the LPG cylinder level had reached RS 834 subsidies had also been withdrawn.
“Prime Minister said the transfer of direct benefits (DBT) would ensure the savings of the RS 15,000 Crore, which meant the government had saved almost one lakh crore rs in this way.
But the MOD government did not use this money for people’s welfare and also did not provide it for state governments, “Kharge said.
He said the leader of Congress Rahul Gandhi suggested that Rs 6,000 was transferred in a bank account of the poor, but the idea was covered.
“As long as the UPA rules, 27.1 percent of people were appointed above the poverty line below while 23 crore people were below the poverty line (BPL) last year.
Because of the wrong policy of the MOD government, 97 percent of the family’s revenue has been reduced,” said Kharge.
He said 1.33 Lakh people lost their jobs during the Covid-19 pandemic while income per capita fell by 10,000 and GDP fell 9 to 10 percent.
Kharge said Maharashtra had not received the RS 32,000 Crore at a GST refund from the center.
Congress is one of the ruling constituents in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government which consists of Sena Shiv and NCP.
