PUDUCHERRY: The Ministry of Education of the Union is in the process of choosing the Chairperson of the Auroville Foundation Board of Government, said Education Minister Union Dharmendra Pradhan.
Ownership of Karan Singh as Chair of the Foundation ended on November 23 last year.
Replying to the query caused by Villupuram MP D Ravikumar, the minister said the government recently appointed a full-time foundation secretary.

July Pradhan said the ministry allocated Rs 18.2 Crore to the foundation for the financial year 2020-21.
However, most foundation projects stopped because Covid-19 and revised estimates for the last fiscal year reached Rs 4.58 Crore.
The budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 for the foundation is estimated at RS 18.2 Crore, the Minister said.
The Ministry offers financial guidance, advice and support to the foundation for its development and to fulfill repetitive and non-recurring obligations.
“Financial support from the ministry along with the income produced by the Auroville Foundation is used to meet the objectives of strengthening the Auroville Foundation,” Pradhan said.
