Center to immediately announce a new cooperative policy: Amit Shah

New Delhi: Uni Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the center would soon come out with new cooperative policies and work together with countries to strengthen cooperative movements.
Shah, who is also the minister of the United States, also announced that the number of Primary Agricultural Cooperatives (PACS) will increase to 3 lakh in the next five years.
At present, there are around 65,000 PACs.
He spoke to Seharita Sammelan first or the National Cooperative Conference here.
The Ministry of Cooperation was formed in July this year.
Overcoming collection consisting of more than 2,100 representatives of different cooperatives and nearly 6 online participants crore, Shah said some people wondered why the center created this new service as the subject of the country.
Shah said there might be a legal response to him, but he didn’t want to “go to this argument”.
The center, he stressed, will work with the country and “there will be no friction”.
“We will work with all countries to advance the cooperative movement,” he said, and added the Ministry of Cooperation has been formed to strengthen and modernize this sector.
In the new cooperative policy proposed, Shah said the policy was brought in 2002 by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and now the MOD government will begin working on new policies.
Emphasizing that the cooperative movement is more relevant today than before, Shah said cooperatives could contribute a lot in the development of the country.
According to him, cooperatives will play an important role in making Indian economies of USD 5 trillion.
Referring to the problem faced by cooperatives in front of taxation and other problems, Shah said he was aware of concern and assured that there would be no injustice of them.
