Guwahati: Asia and Asia (ADB) development center (ADB) on Tuesday signed a project readiness readiness of 4.5 million US dollars (PRF) to support project preparation and design activities to improve urban mobility in Aizawl.
After signing an agreement, the additional secretary of the Department of Economy at the Ministry of Finance, Rajat Kumar Mishra, said the PRF supports the development of long-term solutions to improve urban mobility in Aizawl by identifying high priority urban transportation investments for further projects and increasing their readiness by supporting thorough testing and other preparation activities .
“The PRF will develop a comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) for Aizawl which describes the development of urban transportation development and build synergies with urban development planning initiatives in the state, and promote climate and disaster resilience and inclusive gender in intervention,” said Takeo Konishi.

Urban mobility in Aizawl, the Mizoram administrative and service industry center, is very limited because urbanization is fast and unplanned.
This results in traffic congestion on the width of the narrow road and has a negative impact on road safety, efficiency in human movement and the goods and environmental sustainability.
The next project, is being developed through PRF, trying to solve city transportation problems by adopting sustainable urban mobility solutions.
PRF will conduct a feasibility study for priority projects identified in CMP and prepare detailed project reports and detailed designs for the next project.
This will help develop the institutional capacity of state urban development and department of poverty alleviation in pre-implementation and project preparation activities.
