Mumbai: Central Railway (CR) won a prestigious environment and a hygiene shield at the 66th National Railroad award 2021.
“It has been leading in environmental conservation and has taken various steps towards achieving this goal,” said CR General Manager Anil Kumar Lahoti.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Nagpur and Solapur Stations and other units such as the Central Railway School in Kalyan and the Workshop Unit received IGBC Gold certification.

It also managed to get ISO certification for 87% of Eco Smart Station until December 2021.
(At present 76 of the 87 ECO smart stations is an ISO certificate).

The rainwater harvesting unit has helped save water consumption by 12.86% compared to the previous year.
Automatic coach washers, waste treatment plants, water cycling plants and waste treatment plants have produced 1 crore liter water yields per day.
This is the highest capacity of wastewater treatment capacities in other zones of Indian trains.
