Centre asks states to Attract 1.97 cr Bad under food Safety Policy

NEW DELHI: The Centre has asked state authorities to establish a”particular drive” to spot almost 1.97 crore bad, especially from the most exposed groups like road dwellers, rag pickers, hawkers and rickshaw pullers, that can find the charge cards to avail highly leveraged foodgrain each month under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
The ministry, in its communication to most countries, has mentioned they can use the available policy below the NFSA limitations for it.
In reaction to a query from TOI, food secretary Sudhanshu Pandey shared the amount of ration cards which both states and UTs may issue without breaking the ceiling adjusted for every country under the NFSA.
He explained 14 countries have a 100% policy .
The countries are replicating replicate or fake ration cards to avoid wastage of highly specialized foodgrains and been incorporating fresh bonafied beneficiaries.
