BHUBANESWAR/KOLKATA: PM Narendra Modi on Friday declared financial help of Rs 1,000 crore for both Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand that were battered by Cyclone Yaas and stated a group of Union ministries may go to the 3 countries to estimate the complete damage.
The statement has been made later Modi undertook an aerial survey of Odisha’s Bhadrak and Balasore districts which bore the brunt of the cyclone, also Purba Medinipur at West Bengal.
Even though Odisha could receive Rs 500 crore instantly, the next Rs 500 crore will be awarded to West Bengal and Jharkhand, that could be published predicated on harm, officials said.
The PM also declared ex-gratia of Rs two lakh to the next of kin of every deceased and Rs 50,000 to each of those severely hurt in cyclone.
He appreciated that the preparedness and disaster management actions by Odisha authorities that has led to minimal loss of life.
He explained disaster mitigation was given emphasis by fund commission by devoting capital to the tune of Rs 30,000 crore.
