NEW DELHI: The government has constituted an expert team headed by Prof Ajit Mishra, which will provide recommendations on fixation of minimum wages and federal floor minimal wage.
“The ministry of labor and labor issued an order, and it has comprised the Expert Group to provide technical inputs and guidelines regarding fixation of Minimum Wages and National Floor Minimum Wages,” a labor ministry announcement said.
Minimum wage differs for different types of employees.
National flooring identifies the minimal amount of wage that’s applicable to all types of employees throughout the nation.
The group was featured for a period of 3 years from the date of notification.
To arrive in the commission rates, the team will check into the global best practices about the salary and develop a scientific standards and strategy for fixation of salary.
The expert team is chaired by Prof Ajit Mishra, director, Institute of Economic Growth.
The members of this expert group comprise prof Tarika Chakraborty, IIM Calcutta, Anushree Sinha, senior fellow, National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), Vibha Bhalla, joint H Srinivas, director general, V V Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI).
