Ahmedabad: Facing an increase in production costs, tile makers in Morbi, the largest ceramic industrial cluster in India, Morbi has decided to raise the price of their products around 10-15%, new prices will take effect from September 1, according to ceramic industry players.
“The price of vitrification tiles has been raised by Rs 2 per square foot, which translates to an increase of 10-12%,” said Mukesh Kundariya, President, Vitrified Tile Division, Morbi Ceramic Association (MCA).
“In the case of wall tiles, prices have been raised by Rs 15 per box with each box containing 10 feet of wall tiles,” said Nilesh Jetpariya, President, MCA, MCA.
One wall tile box costs around Rs 100.
Tylemaker in Morbi has decided to raise prices to continue the increase in production costs, which has risen by around 15% due to the increase in natural gas prices, raw materials, coal as a surge in transportation costs following the price of spiraling diesel, said Industrial players.
Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL) climbs the price of natural gas supplied to ceramics and sanitaryware units in Morbi and Surendranagar.
For a minimum of 3-month guaranteed OFFTAKE (MGO), GGL increases the rate of 4.37 per SCM (not including tax).
To arrange production, around 100 manufactures of lid vitrification tiles and additional200 units make wall tiles will be closed for a month starting September 1, said Morbi ceramic tile maker.
