PUDUCHERRY: With half of his campus under Green’s closing, the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) -Vector Control Research Center (VCRC), Puduchhery has received the Green Prestioni Champion Certification Minister of Education Minister of Education Union in the academic year 20-21.

The institution, which has carried out water budgeting and waste audits and energy using rainwater for gardening and watering needs in place and in the bathroom and laboratory.
This institution strictly adopts the practice of labeling waste (for dry waste and wet waste) and color coding (black / gray for landfills, green for compost and blue for recycled goods) and separate various types of Viz waste materials., Solid , Liquid and e-waste before throwing it away.
It has installed a solar electric panel on the roof to knock on the renewable power to the possible maximum level.
It has adopted Narikuravar colonies and students and staff members have launched the Swachh Bharat initiative in the village with active participation from the Narikuravar and Irular communities.
Established in 1975 by ICMR, the Ministry of Health, VCRC has been involved in research to develop newer methods and strategies to control diseases transmitted through vectors.
WHO has set VCRC as a collaboration center for research and training in lymphatic filariasis and integrated vector management.
Health Union and Ministry of Welfare Family recognize VCRC as one of the Institutes of Excellence in India for courses in health training.
This center is the only institution in the country that offers MSc in public health entomologists.
