Jammu: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday led a strong protest here against civilian murder by security forces, and demanded surrendering the body from those who died to their families.
The former main minister said that since the Special Strength of Armed Forces (AFSPA) has been valid, there has been no accountability for murder of innocent people.
Four people, including two civilians, were killed in a shootout by security forces on Monday night during an anti-terror operation.
According to the police, Haider, a Pakistani terrorist, and his local partner Mohammad Amir, along with two civilians – Altaf Bhat and Mudassir Gul – died in a meeting at the Locity of Hyderpora, where illegal call centers and terror hiding places are suspected of running.
Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Range) Vijay Kumar claimed that Gul was a terrorist active partner and run a central call in a place owned by Bhat, who was killed in cross shots with terrorists.
He expressed regret for Bhat’s death but said he would be taken into account between terrorist “Harbourers”.
Mohammad Amir’s father Latief Magray, a resident of the Gool region of Ramban District, has denied official claims that his son is a terrorist.

Mehbooba told reporters that the civilian family killed took protests in Srinagar and demanded the surrender of their bodies.
