Rajinder.nagekoti1@timesgroup.com Chandigarh: Chandigarh is ranked third in the Sustainable Development Index (SDG) Urban Index and Dashboard (2021-22), the results are stated on Tuesday.
The index and dashboard are the result of the collaboration of Niti Aayog-Giz and BMZ which focuses on driving localization of SDG in cities, under the umbrella of cooperation in Indo-Germany.
Shimla sustained the index, followed by Coimbatore and Chandigarh.
Urban Index and dashboards occupy 56 urban areas in 77 sdg indicators in 46 targets for the SDG framework.
Data on this indicator has been sourced from official data sources from various ministries, and other government data sources.
Of the 56 urban areas ranked in the index, 44 with a population above one million.
Twelve is state capital with a population of less than one million.
For each SDG, urban areas are ranked on a scale of 0-100.
Score 100 implies that urban areas have reached the target set for 2030; Score 0 implies that it is the farthest to reach the target among the chosen urban areas.
Urban area scores as a whole or composite are then produced from wise scores the purpose of measuring aggregate performance of urban areas.
