Chandigarh: On the basis of a different mission under the State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC) for Chandigarh, five working groups have been formed by the UT government.
These groups include solar missions and increased energy efficiency; Sustainable water mission; Indian Green Mission; Sustainable habitat (which includes air, waste, transportation and health) and strategic knowledge for climate change.
UT government, in its action plan for climate change and to control air pollution, have submitted various initiatives from promoting vehicles operated with batteries, green buffers along the traffic corridors, and introducing a smart traffic management system.
The action plan was submitted to the Union Government in 2018.
In the action plan, UT has also submitted that he has launched a broad drive to vehicles that pollute and even prepare an action plan to expand the road and increase infrastructure for his decentation.
Other initiatives mentioned in the action plan include synchronization of traffic signals in the city, greening open areas, and introducing fountains at the main traffic intersection wherever it is worthy of the use of tertiary water, UT is stirring that air quality around the city.

The government also seeks to promote hybrid and electrical vehicles.
Chandigarh has the highest vehicle density in India with around 12 lakh registered, including two-wheeled and four-wheeled wheels.
The average number of vehicles per house is two, which has caused sharp setbacks in air quality.
