Panchkula: A week after a leopard was shot down in the area of ​​Morni in Panchkula, the police and the Department of Wildlife Department formed a team to do a special patrol at night and install checkpoints at the entry point and out.
The steps were decided after Saurabh Singh, Police Commissioner (CP), Panchkula, directed the Chandimandir Police Station (SHO) to hold a meeting with the Department of Wildlife and provide everything.
Among the other decisions taken during the meeting is that the CCTV camera will be inserted into the entry point and exit MORNI.
Chandimandir Sho Inspector Arvind Kumar said the patrol would increase.
Leopard was killed with a “topidar gun”, an old-style gun that uses a metal ball with a gunpowder and is operated manually, unlike the automatic gun and the pistol available at this time.

“All licensed weapons in the area of ​​Morni will be examined and their recordings are maintained.
Topidar weapons will be verified,” said Sho Arvind.
The Inspector of the Ministry of Wildlife Rajesh Kumar said, “Killing leopards or wild animals is a serious violation.
The police have shown their support and we are trying to increase the patrol to ensure the incident is not repeated in the future.” On December 31, a farmer identified as Sohan Lal, a resident of Badi Wala, Morni, has found Leopard lying dead at 1:15 a.m.

Post-Mortem’s report said Leopard was 1.5 years old at death.
Leopard is targeted by hunters because of the high demand for skin and other body parts.
The police then registered a case under the Section 2, 9, 39, 51 and 55 of the Law on Margasatwa Protection, 1972, at the Chandimandir Police Station.
