CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh is the second UT after Delhi that has had maximum vaccination coverage till date.
According to the Cowin dashboard, till date there have been 4,75,524 doses of Covishield inoculated in the city.
Delhi tops the chart amongst the UTs with 68,07,059 doses given till date.
The immunisation against Covid-19 started from January 16 where the health care workers (HCWs) were the first priority beneficiaries.
As many as 94% of HCWs so far and the same percentage of front line workers have been covered for vaccination in the city.
The highest total dose in a day was given on June 19, when the number touched 9,308.
On June 20, this came down to 3,484, but picked up on June 21 with 6,866 doses and the next day, it was 7,766.
“We have started a walkin facility for vaccination of those 18 years and above in all government hospitals and dispensaries since June 22,” said director health services, UT, Dr Amandeep Kang.
She said, “Presently, 40,000 doses are available and 50,700 more are expected this month.
For next month, 1.5 lakh doses for government sector and 50,000 for private sectors have been allocated by the government.
So there is no shortage of vaccine.” The largest group as per the electoral rolls in the city are 18-44 years.
There are 3,80,501 such beneficiaries.
Till date, almost 50% of this group has received the first dose.
The vaccination of this group started from May 15.
