Chandigarh: This city has almost 1 lakh children between 15 and 18 years which will be eligible for Vaccinaton against Covid-19 from January 3 next year.
The Ministry of Health will decide on sites and places for shots on Monday.
Sources say children will be vaccinated in school instead of hospitals or clinics.
The final decision will be taken after the health secretary holds a meeting.
Two vaccines have been given emergency approval for children.
This includes Zycov-D and Bharat Biotech Covaxin.
“We will have a workshop on Tuesday with the center.
It will clarify which vaccines will be supplied here,” said Dr.
Manjeet Singh, District Immunization Officer, UT.
84% Fully Chandigarh Jabbedhe said, “We will use a portal with aadhaar card as verification for identity.
The Ministry of Health will determine the details next week after we receive a guide from the center.” Vaccination for the adult population starts from January 16 in the city.
Until now, 84% of the adult population has been fully vaccinated.
All health care and frontline workers and 60 years and above with comorbidity will get booster shots from January 10.
Chandigarh has 31,374 frontline workers, while there are 20,000 registered health care workers.
All of this has fully immunized.
“This center makes a list of comorbidity for the elderly who must be supported by a treated doctor.
If this will be followed for a booster dose, we have things on the spot,” said District Immunization Officer.
