Chandigarh: It is expected that PGI will have a meeting of government agaries for the Constitution of the Search Selection Committee needed to filter applicants for the position of director this month.
The source said the meeting to be held in Delhi and led by the Minister of Health and the welfare of the Union family would choose three committee members.
“After this is done, from 36, the 10 top applicants will be selected.
This will be the first step in the director’s post election,” said an official at PGI.
The final selection process may take more than four months.
The first step is with a nomination called through the ad.
Those who are nominated are leading education, researchers and scholars from all over the country.
The search selection committee was formed by the Ministry of Health to examine applicants through interviews.
“The body of the government and the institute met to discuss the selection process.
The names of three to five top competitors are forwarded by the Institute Agency chaired by the Ministry to the Cabinet appointment committee,” said an official at the Ministry.
He said, “The selected candidate file must be cleaned by PMO before the director’s name is stated.
All candidate credentials and corruption charges against them are verified.” Unlike the election of the previous director, when the ad needed time, this year, the post was advertised on September 17 when the post fell on November 1.
