CHANDIGARH: Quality of personal protective equipment (PPE) caliber kits has become insufficient, with healthcare workers at PGI and Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, whining of skin problems following donning them.
“Throughout the beginning of the pandemicwe had the identical criticism and then we have better quality fittings.
But whenever we use such protective gear, there’s skin rash apart from excessive perspiration,” explained Satyaveer Dagur, general secretary, PGI Nursing Welfare Association.
He explained,”We’ve apprised our elders.
They advised us that the good deal is coming out of the Centre and also they cannot do anything.
” The healthcare workers must overlook PPE kits in ICUs, Covid wards and at the crisis where Covid patients have been admitted.
With half an hour of obligation in these matches, it gets too discomforting.
“We realize that the suits are such not comfy since they’re almost airtight.
However, the grade is so low it is leaving people with skin breakouts,” explained Dabkesh Kumar, president, nursing institution, GMCH.
Bedside maintenance is largely performed by physicians and technical personnel.
“While we use PPE kits, then we cannot drink water and it dehydrates most in your responsibility.
But that’s understandable.
But if the grade is enhanced, an individual can take care of skin problems,” said a nurse team in PGI.
‘Better quality PPEs can create matters easy’There have been research that recorded that PPE kits have caused excessive perspiration, fogging of goggles, spectacles, or face guards and suffocation.
Originally the air conditioning systems have been closed down, but once fitting exceptional filters from the ducts, a few of the ICUs have resumed the AC system.
Issues of nausea, migraines, vertigonausea and vomiting also have reported.
“If we can get much better quality PPEs such as we have earlier, things may get convenient,” explained Dagur.
