Chandigarh: Prices that skyrocket from gasoline have made many residents divert their vehicles to CNG mode – from 78 to 2018 to 235 to 15 October 2021 – in accordance with UT government data accessed by TOI.
In 2019, as many as 120 people chose CNG.
The number increased to 136 by 2020 and 235 people have changed their gasoline vehicles to CNG this year, with many files considered.
UT government has registered a total of five dealers to install CNG kits.
Costs vary from Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000 according to the quality and parameters.
“Registration and License Authority (RLA) only charges RS 520 for a smart card entered into someone after changing the gasoline vehicle to CNG.
In addition, administration does not charge an additional amount and after taking approval from authority, one must go to the dealer to install the kit , “said the source.
The source said because gasoline prices have increased regularly, many people visit the RLA office every day asking for a process and procedure to change gasoline vehicles to CNG.
