Chandrapur: Billboard that breathes (artificial lung billboards), installed on November 17 in Sawarkar Square here to show the impact of air pollution in a healthy lung, has changed almost only in six days.
The air quality index (AQI) recorded by a digital air quality monitor on billboards remains consistent above 200 over the past six days, placing air in the city in the ‘very unhealthy’ category.
School children, who were brought to billboards on Tuesday to educate them about AQI and pollution in the atmosphere, express surprises for the air quality they breathe.
The city of Chandrapur has a doubtful difference to be one of the most polluted cities in the state.
Waatavaran Foundation and eco-pro organization, under the Aegis Chandrapur Municipal Corporation, has installed a breathing advertising board to highlight how dangerous air polluted by chandrapur residents breathe and what is the effect on health.
President Eco-Pro President of the bandu Dhotre explained to students visiting projects and alarming pollution levels in the city, and guiding them on their responsibilities to maintaining environmental balance.
“Very surprisingly know about the intensity of pollution in the air.
If these lungs have returned in just six days, what can be the condition of our lungs that breathe the same unhealthy air for years,” said an Anshika Bhattacharya student .
The students wanted to know about the numbers binged on the AQI monitor, but more than amazed by the speed of artificial lungs into black.
“The air is unhealthy, we breathe for years.
If someone experiences surgery, the doctor will find our lungs even more black than artificial on billboards,” said the Shreya Bele student.
Farha Qazi was attached to Waatavaran Foundation claiming that the ad board in Chandrapur would likely change black pitch in a short time.
He told him that it took 15 days for a similar billboard to return to the Posh Bandra area in Mumbai, while in Kharghar (Navi Mumbai) turned black in 10 days.
“Our previous study with billboards has shown that living citizens even in luxury areas such as Bandra are not safe from pollution.

Dhotre, who monitors AQI, said the advertising board tends to turn dark in one or two days.
