Chandigarh: After the days of discussion and busy uncertainty, the leadership of the Congress finally arrived at a consensus about who all will join the Punjab cabinet.
The list was removed during the Charanjit Singh Channi CM meeting with Rahul Gandhi who passed through midnight Friday.
When returning from Delhi, Channi met the Governor of Punjab Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday, and 15 Cabinet ministers will now be given an oath of office at 4:30 p.m.
on Sunday.
Seven new faces tend to be installed and five ministers from the Amarinder Singh team will be abandoned.
The source said the party had cleared the names of three loyalists of PPCC Head Navjot Singh Sidhu – Pargate Singh, Kulajit Singh Nagra and Amarinder Singh Raja at war – for induction.
The names of very Singh Gilajian, the prominent OBC party leader, MLA Rajkumar Verka and Gurkirat Kotli (grandchildren of former CM Bealant Singh) have also been approved.
In a surprise step, the former Minister of Irrigation Rana Gurjit Singh is expected to return to the Ministers.
He was previously a minister in the CM of CM Amarinder Singh who came out but had come down after alleged scam in sand mine allotment related to his former employee.
Meanwhile, sources said the party planned to bring down former Health Minister Balbir Sidhu, Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Sunder Industrial Minister Sham Arora, Minister of Social Welfare Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Minister of Sports Rana Gurmit.
Most of them are considered Amarinder loyalists.
