Lucknow: empty space inside and haphazard parking outside the multi-storey or underground parking lot in the city is the main reason for traffic congestion in several leading areas in the city, examination of reality toi.
Inspections of several underground parking and multilevel in areas such as Aminabad, Alambagh, Gole Market, Chowk, Hazratganj and Lalbagh found haphazy and four-wheeled vehicles only outside the designated place even when the spacious room was available in it.
In Chowk, a number of four-wheeled vehicles parked right outside multi-storey parking, while the top of multi-storey parking is mostly empty.
As a result, traffic congestion is very common in this area, commuter said.
“The vehicle began to march from the morning and the situation was getting worse late at night.
The side of the road was filled with vehicles, forcing pedestrians as we walked on the road.
This situation remains the same for years, even after parking parks come here,” said Sanchita Sharma, a commuter.
A similar situation was found in the busy area of Hazratgaj.
Adil Hussain, who looked parked his bicycle near the Janpath market, said, “I just need to take a package in a shop, and it only takes ten minutes.
I will waste my time and money, if I go to the parking lot and then walk to here again.
“The traffic situation proved worse at the busy Aminabad market.
Toi observed a lot of bicycles and scooters parked in and around underground parking operated by Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
Sonu Panday, Lot Contractor, said, “We have mobilized two workers just to stand outside the parking lot and ask motorists to park their vehicles inside.
However, most of them don’t care.” Haphazard parking outside the head office of Lucknow Municipal Corporation on Lalbagh has been a very problematic problem over the past years.
Toi discovered two-wheeled and four-wheeled carelessly parked on the road and the path that did not leave the room for walking.
Yash Dixit, a commuter said, “Apart from underground parking provided by the Civic body, most people don’t use facilities to save money.
They park their vehicles on the side of the path that imposes pedestrians to walk on the road that risk their lives.
