New Delhi: The center on Thursday told the Supreme Court that the requirements of the armed forces at the fluctuati Indo-China border needed a rapid weaponry movement and severe artillery through the Chardham road that connects Garrison to the border point and argued that expanding existing roads up to 10 meters.

The Center wants to take a walk with a paved shoulder into 10 meters wide.
Appearing for the Petitioner, Senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves said that they did not oppose the widening of the road for the needs of the army.
“But, the question is – Can Himalaya hold the widening of the road? The nature has answered the question as an incident after a landslide incident has made a wide road that cannot be accessed for vehicles.
5.5 meters wide is enough for the troop movement,” he said.
Gonsalves said, “Let the natural atmosphere and natural environment of the holy places not violated by developments that have no meaning will destroy the impact of the Himalayas and in turn the entire ecology and state climate for generations to come.
