Surat: Charges were framed from 13 of the 14 accused with a local court on Monday in relation to the fire in Takshashila Arcade at May 2019 that asserted 22 lives.
Those charged with the court contain Jignesh Paghdar, manager of the construction Savji Paghdar, building owners Harsukh Vekariya, Dinesh Vekariya and Ravindra Kahar; Bhargav Butani, owner of this training course; executive engineers of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) Parag Munshi and Jayesh Solanki; deputy engineers of SMC Vinu Parmar, Himanshu Gajjar; deputy chief fire officer Sanjay Acharya, passion officer Kirti Modh along with deputy engineer of Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited Dipak Nail.Charges weren’t framed against SMC junior programmer Atul Gorsawala since he’d got a stay about the process.Of each of the accused billed today, Gajjar, Munshi, Gorsawala, Solanki, Parmar, Jignesh alias Jignal, Modh, Acharya and Naik are on bond.
Butani, Savji, Kahar, Harsukh and Dinesh are now in prison.
“Together with the framing of fees, the trial will start from the accused.
Candidates will be contested and signs is going to be listed from the court,” said particular public prosecutor N N Parmar.
“We’ve asked the court to acknowledge the documentary proof and the following hearing was scheduled on July 5,” said Piyush Mangukiya, attorney representing families of this victims.On May 24, 2019 firing had engulfed a graduate course running illegally assembled 4th floor of Takshashila Arcade.
A total of 22 pupils died and 19 others were hurt from the incident.
Some missing lives since they jumped from the fourth floor to rescue themselves.
Originally, the accused had been charged under various parts of the Indian Penal Code for example causing death caused by neglect.
Afterwards police included segments for hammering papers after more proof was discovered.
“The courtroom proceeding got delayed because of the outbreak.
But we hope the proceeding to accelerate today along with the verdict to be announced shortly,” explained Jaysukh Gajera, dad of one of those deceased students.
