Chasing a jumbo herd will be trapped in the canal

MySuru: The herd of six elephants, who had lost from Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, was trapped in a canal when villagers tried to chase animals back to the forest.

Elephants from the veerahosahalli forest span got lost to Gurupura Village, on the edge of the forest, on Sunday night.
Elephants raided the plants in Gurupura Village and the Tenalli and entered agricultural land near Raghavendra Bar in Hallauru Pala Village.
The villagers who watched the herd on Monday morning and tried to pursue elephants back to the forest.
The elephant was scared, when trying to escape, entering the main canal in Hanagodu Village.
When news spread, hundreds of villagers rushed to the canal.
Some of them threw stones to the herd.
Finally, elephants climbing the canal wall and escaping elephants -Dept elephants were found dead in the Kaadu Madappana forest area near the Gopalapura Beat under the Betta GS Division from Bandipur Tiger reserves on Monday.
Veterina Waheem Mirza who did post-Mortem found Leishmania infection in Pachyderm’s stomach.
Samples have been sent to the laboratory to find out what the animal kills.
