Chatra: Although the State Government has not yet told the Date of Election of Panchayat, the villagers of Manjhgawan Panchayat in Blok Mayurhund from Chatra Regency take a unique initiative to choose their round candidate in advance by arranging their own polls on Friday.
According to the villagers, four people – Surendra Nath Bharti, Anil Singh, Manjeet Singh and Shashi Singh – have announced that they will compete for Mukhiya’s position of Pancrayat and start a campaign.
When the villagers approached them last month, said that only one of them had to fight for polls, no one would retreat.
Therefore, villagers decided to hold their own selection to choose round candidates for future polls.
The villagers then established a vote booth at the temple of the village and ballot paper printed for practice.
Some locals, Bikhu Singh, Asdev Singh, Balgobing Baitha, Awadh Singh, Yaswindra Yadav and others were given the role of voting officials and some young men were given security charges.
On Friday, 629 villagers voted for their voices during the polls starting at 10 am.
The results were announced at night and Singh Manjeet was declared a winner.
Commenting on the poll, Bhikhu Singh said, “From four candidates, Manjeet Singh won and he would be our Mukhiya candidate when the state government announced the election date.
While Manjee Singh got 416 votes, Surendra Bharti received 62 votes, Shashi Singh 73 and Anil Singh Get 33 votes.
29 votes declared invalid.
“One of the villagers said,” No one will be allowed to oppose it.
” Shashi Singh, the second, announced that he would donate Rs 11,000 to Manjeet Singh to oppose the election.
Surendra Bharti also said he contributed 5,000 to Manjeet Singh.
Meanwhile, the construction officer of Block Mayurhund Saket Kumar Sinha told the Toi that the date was not announced for the election of Panchayat and said everyone, who qualified, has the right to oppose the poll.
“I am aware of the pre-polls in Pancide Manjhgawan where the villagers choose their Mukhiya candidates.
But if anyone wants a contest from Pancayat after the poll is told, no one can block anything.”
